UK-grown vs imported
Peak season reflects when a flower is grown in the UK. Good availability typically means reliable Dutch, Kenyan, or Colombian imports. Imported flowers are available most of the year — but UK-grown blooms are fresher, often cheaper, and have a lower carbon footprint.
Why seasonality matters
Choosing flowers in season means better quality, longer vase life, and lower prices. A peony in June is exceptional. A peony in November, if available at all, has travelled far and may not last. Working with the season almost always gives a better result.
Planning ahead
If you're arranging wedding or event flowers, check what's in peak season around your date — your florist will thank you, and your budget will go further. Dahlias in September, sweet peas in July, and tulips in April are among the best-value peak-season choices.
